Abstract
Worldwide efforts are made to conserve biodiversity, to avoid degradation of ecosystems and not least to restore ecological
streams. Ecological restoration is a field which assume multidisciplinary and multisectoral involvements. In the last years
ecological restoration has emerged as an important component of ecosystem management and environmental protection. Many
projects were planned and implemented to maintain and improve the ecological integrity of streams, by restoring natural
ecosystems. In this paper we presented and discussed the planning stages of an ecological restoration, also considering some
ecological restoration projects and interregional cooperation as support for decision making processes.
